Title: A Culinary Gem in Portsmouth: Botanica Delights with French Flair Nestled in the heart of Portsmouth, NH, Botanica is a delightful French restaurant that effortlessly blends elegance with a relaxed ambiance. From its inviting decor to its diverse menu offerings, Botanica caters to both gin aficionados and non-drinkers alike, ensuring an unforgettable dining experience for all. The mix gin bar is indeed a highlight, offering a tantalizing array of concoctions for gin enthusiasts, while also crafting exquisite mocktails for those abstaining. As a non-drinker, I appreciated the thoughtful attention to detail in providing equally satisfying beverage options. Now, let's talk about the food. The Steak Frites and Duck Confit were both exceptional choices for entrees, showcasing the chef's mastery of French culinary techniques. Each bite was a symphony of flavors, leaving me craving for more. But the culinary journey doesn't stop there. Botanica's menu boasts an impressive selection of small plates, appetizers, and desserts, each offering its own unique twist on French cuisine. The rabbit croquettes were a delightful surprise, perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The raw oysters, fresh and briny, transported me to the shores of Brittany with each slurp. And the blue cheese with honey was a divine combination of savory and sweet, leaving my taste buds dancing with joy. In addition to the outstanding food and drink, the service at Botanica was impeccable. The staff exuded warmth and professionalism, ensuring that every aspect of my dining experience was nothing short of perfection. Overall, Botanica is a culinary gem in Portsmouth, offering a taste of France with a New England twist. Whether you're sipping on a gin cocktail at the bar or indulging in a decadent dessert, Botanica is sure to leave a lasting impression on even the most discerning palate.

Fabulous find! Stopped by for a cocktail & stayed for dinner! Inventive gin cocktails. Delicious meals with beautiful presentations! We had a lamb appetizer that was so succulent. The duck confit - melt in your mouth! Our oysters were just good but we're spoiled . The arctic char was fabulous! For dessert we had the chocolate souffle and the creme caramel - yum! My father wants to bring friends back there! I think it's his new favorite restaurant. Also nice to note that the staff were very helpful with my gluten & dairy allergies. Great place for a date!

We’ve been coming here for years and usually love both the food and service, but today was an exception. We arrived exactly 15 min late (not 20 as claimed) and were initially refused our table; once seated, the service felt more like a reluctant favor than the usual welcoming vibe. Hopefully just a one-off, since we normally enjoy this place so much.

We visited during Portsmouth restaurant week and I highly recommend Botanica. The meal was a three course set menu. I had the Gin salmon with beets and red onions, a light and easy starter dish. The duck confit which was amazing, crispy skin with tender meat served with Parisian gnocchi and chocolate souffle (not pictured). The tan Negroni (also not pictured) was the best cocktail of the night.

Delicious French-inspired cuisine. The Gin selection is extensive (try the Tamsworth botanical sipping gin) but their wine selection is excellent too. My husband and I often come in and find seats at the bar, but it’s a risk w/o a reservation. I enjoy more casual dining and lighter fare when I’m at the bar. We often select fresh oysters, a green salad, soup, fresh bread and a cheese tray. Entrees are substantial and great when I’m very hungry. On my last visit I enjoyed the agnolotti pasta stuffed with ricotta. They were light pillows of pasta touched by a light sauce — divine! I finished my light meal with the Hazelnut Genoise which was a pleasant palate pleaser. The cake was slightly warmed — both sweet and savory with a plum and caramel sauce. It was the perfect finish! Finally, the staff are always pleasant and friendly. The restaurant is comfortable and the conversation easily heard with your companions. A great spot for vegetarians and meatatarians alike!

Great meal here after a long day of travel. Flavors were so unique and delicious. Really good veggie options. The two women serving/running the ship were lovely. House Martini was excellent.
